Five of the candidates running for Indiana governor were critical of the IEDC's plan to pipe tens of millions of gallons of water per day from the Wabash Valley area at a panel discussion held in Columbus, IN on Friday, December 8. The topics were economic and development issues. Former IEDC chair Brad Chambers continued to support the plan, saying, "There was never any approach that would create winners and losers." Those critical of the plan spoke of a lack of transparency, a disagreement with putting the IEDC in the position of developer, the IEDC pushing forward without community buy-in, and the prospect of benefitting some in the state while harming others.
